Shannen on the underside
Full of life and warmth and also totally ethereal
and all the better that this one was drawn then affixed to this French apothecary bottle
and this example embodies exactly why--wonderfully strange
as if with palms up waiting to receive donations
The Illustrated French Game, Very Scarce and Lovely Rummy Type Antique French Vocabulary Game folk art floral painting Shannen on the undersideI'd never seen a set of these cards before, produced by R. H Davis & Co, Yarmouth Nova Scotia early 1900s I'm sure, though I can't find another deck out there anywhere. They're really lovely, and make for an excellent way to learn or practice one's French vocab ( animals, vegetables, items of clothing, serving ware, etc.) while playing a rummy type game. Box 3 1 2" x 2 1 4" x 1". Complete deck of 60 cards, in excellent condition.
