elemental cards mtg Magic The Gathering War Card - Red - Rare - Mirrodin Set Create a 4/4 red Dragon Elemental creature token with flying and prowess Hearth Elemental // Stoke Genius

Modern is a supercharged format, So a card must be quite potent to have any influence on the metagame

Its not like you had to worry about them destroying the balance of Standard or Legacy (Modern didnt exist yet, remember)

Appeal sets up a strike with a big creature, and Authority gives all your buddies vigilance

Instead, the partner with pairs allows WotC to dig into a design space thats too specific to be broadly applied, and it lets them test out very specific play patterns

You would be modifying your deck list and removing a card in the middle of a match, and physically tearing up a card probably counts as marking it which is not permitted
