This snail once lived on the bottom of a prehistoric sea about 80 million years ago. After the snail died, it sank into the mud of the seafloor and over time became this wonderful fossil. This fossil is called Gosau snail, named after the site of Gosau am Dachstein in Austria, because the place is known for its fossil finds on the so called snail wall.
